April 4th 2008, Kingswood Life Centre is gearing up for the 2nd Annual High School Driver Skills Rodeo hosted by KAOS 90.5 FM and other local organizations, aimed at young drivers on Thursday May 8th from 9 am to 3 pm.
KAOS in cooperation with several local high schools is extending an invitation to students to participant in the competition for the Best Skilled Driver of 2008. This free event will be held at the Kingswood Life Centre, 993 Talwood Dr, parking lot with exhibitors in doors. The Rodeo will be bigger and better as students will be coming with their classes to compete and cheer on their fellow drivers in competition with other rivaling schools.
This year young drivers will be able to register at the event to drive through an official road obstacle course and be judged by licensed driving training instructors. Prizes will be awarded for the best drivers. While the young drivers are testing their skills on the course, the Rodeo offers entertainment, food, educational displays, and fun exhibits in the Kingswood Centre plus outdoor automotive displays. Exhibitors will be offering something for everyone with several major automobile organizations, clubs, schools and dealerships.
In keeping with the mandate of KAOS Radio to reach, build and activate community youth through positive leadership, mentorship, and skill development, KAOS is partnering with exhibitors related to youth, health and safety, education, leadership, auto trades, apprenticeships, advocacy, social service, retail, environment or other businesses promoting healthy lifestyles in our community. As a registered charity Kings Kid’s Promotions Inc runs the local KAOS Radio as a non-profit rock radio station serving youth in the community. ``If it was not for the dedicated business and community partners we would not be able to offer such needed skill development events,” states Rick Kirschner general manager of KAOS Radio. “We hope everyone will bring a friend and have a great day together.”
All of this, of course, requires an enormous amount of work. The Driver Skill Rodeo committee members have already begun the job of bringing this event to Peterborough.
